Forest Service Sign Gets a Facelift

You may have noticed the iconic Forest Service ski area sign languishing on the Crystal Mountain Boulevard.  The sign is about 50 years old and hasn’t seen a fresh coat of paint in probably 25 years.  John Kircher (the GM at Crystal and my husband) wanted to change that.  With FS budget cuts, he decided we should do it ourselves.  So yesterday John, Anna DeArrieta (ski patroller), Martin Rand (bootfitter) and I set out to repaint the sign.

We had our work cut out for us.

After a few setbacks (millions of old, brittle stickers and heavy dew that made the paint run overnight), it’s finally finished.

Not sure if this paint job will last another 25 years, but we’ll see.

OK Kim, you had to know this question was coming… It took FOUR of you to paint that sign??
    Looks good.
Kim responds: Ha! Well, you know. Somebody HAD to hold the ladder.
