Crystal Mountain and Evo have teamed up yet again to bring you a trip into the backcountry with an emphasis on avalanche education. This is an opportunities for women to get out of the ski resort, learn about snowpack, and meet up with other ladies who are looking to push the boundaries.
We don’t ask that you have ever been touring before but it is required that you are a strong skier or snowboarder who is comfortable in all conditions. If you need gear Evo will hook you up with a full set up. On Thursday, March 8th we all meet at Evo in Fremont for goodies, a chance to get your gear, and about an hour long intro talk on backcountry travel, terrain, weather, and snowpack analysis. Then Saturday, March 10th we’ll meet at Crystal for pastries and a briefing of conditions and avalanche hazard before heading up. In the field we go over beacon skills, safe travel techniques, and snow pits. We’ll make sure to get some good turns in and head back by late afternoon for wine and cheese. Yep, it sounds perfect to me too.
